Biography
I have always loved Art and took private Art lessons as a child. I enjoy many types of Art, including drawing, painting, clay, weaving and sewing.

It is my wish to enable each student to develop their skills and personal style in Art within a beautiful and creative learning environment.

This is my 16th year at NHP!

I currently teach middle school Art, for 6th, 7th, 8th grade, and Art 1 for advanced 8th grade artists.

MS Art students have done very well in Art competitions such as PSIA and Jr. VASE.  We have had 1st and 2nd place winners at the district and state level multiple times.  Go Art!

Honors and activities

I was chosen as Teacher of the Year this past year, 2015.

I was nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2014.

I was chosen as Teacher of the Year in 2008.

Presenter at state conferences

In recent years, I have been asked to be a presenter at the Texas State Art Conferences. This November, I will be presenting 2 workshops for teachers.

Art Awards

I created the logo and brochure for the National Conference of the American Montessori Society in 2000. I have had my artwork displayed in galleries and have won art competitions.

Art Trip to Europe

I have taken scholars to Europe for 9 years on the Art Trip to Europe.  This has been a week-long trip over Spring Break. We have visited Paris, London, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Venice, Munich, Amsterdam, Greece, Turkey, to name a few, where the Arts and architecture of world famous cities, and the cultures of these people and places have become real to our students, have given them a global perspective, and have inspired them for a lifetime.

Personal

My interests include Art, Music, my family, rocks, animals, travel, cooking, creativity, liberty, teaching, and looking at the world through eyes of gratitude, faith, courage, and wonder.
