  • Free/Reduced Meal Applications

Posted by Claudia Shelton at 9/27/2016

Families, if you received the following message or phone call, you will need to fill out a free/reduced meal application in order for your scholar to continue receiving free or reduced meals.

    Dear North Hills Parent/Guardian,

As of September 20, 2016, last school year's free and reduced qualifications have expired.  Your household does not have an application completed for 2016-17 free and reduced meals.  Meal applications must be completed each school year.  Please complete the Free and Reduced meal application for the 2016-2017 school year immediately by clicking here or copying and pasting the following web address  https://www.heartlandapps.com/Terms.aspx?host=uplifteducation.heartlandapps.com&apply=1 into your browser.

There is a ten business day processing period from the time the application has been received.  During that time, please provide your scholar with lunch or lunch money to eat at school.  Any balances accrued before the benefits have been awarded will be the responsibility of the parents.

If you feel you have received this message in error or have further inquiry, please contact the Child Nutrition Program at 469-398-0147 for more information.

    Thank you!

  • Need to bring your scholar an item they forgot?

Posted by Claudia Shelton at 8/24/2016 6:00:00 AM
Forgotten items including lunches, homework etc. may be dropped off during school and office hours.
Parents of Primary scholars, please e-mail your child's teacher to let them know you are dropping off the item in the Primary office.  They will have your student stop by the office to pick it up at a convenient time.
Parents of Secondary scholars, please be aware we will not be interrupting classes nor will we be delivering the items to students.  Students may pick up these items during passing period. Let them know now that if they do forget an item, they can ask for permission to call you from the front foyer.  Any items you bring will be left at the front desk at your own risk.  It is not possible for that area to be completely secure although we do try our best to prevent theft.

    Thank you!

  • School Pictures & Student ID's

Posted by Claudia Shelton at 8/23/2016 6:00:00 AM
Scholars are required to keep up with their id's as it is part of their required uniform.  Please help your Secondary (6th-12th) scholar remember to have their badge on daily.  Primary's (K-5th) are kept in the classroom.  If they lose their badge, the replacement costs are as follows:
    $1 for temporary one-day ID
This will be required each day an ID is missing.
    $10 for ID badge replacement
$5 for UNHP lanyard (worn in Secondary only)

Picture Day was on August 9th.  Retakes will be on Monday, September 26th.  Formal uniform is required for school pictures or retakes.
You may still Order Pictures Here using code DO316005Q1.  The photo on your scholar's ID is not reflective of the photos you have/will purchase.  Due to our requirement of having the ID's printed immediately, LifeTouch was not able to professionally edit them.  Your purchased photos and the photos for the yearbook will be centered and have a professional background added.

  • Bringing your license to campus

Posted by Claudia Shelton at 8/22/2016 6:00:00 AM
Our number one goal on campus is to provide as secure of a space as possible for our scholars, parents and staff.  In an effort to continue improvement of campus safety, we are enforcing the following policies across the entire school during open campus hours.  Please note there are no exceptions to these policies.  Since we know many of our families have been here for years, please always assume the staff member that is granting you access does not know you and needs to verify who you are.  Even if we know you, we have to verify your identity the same way every visit.
    1. ALL visitors must provide proper identification (valid/current driver's license or State issued ID), sign in and have an approved badge (Visitor or Volunteer) if access is needed past the front foyer.  This includes parents/guardians with meetings in the front office.  All other forms of ID are not acceptable for visitors entering campus.  Any previous badges are no longer valid.  If visitors need to speak with a teacher, counselor or administrator, please schedule an appointment in advance with that contact via e-mail.  Please call the school if you need clarification or more details.
    2. ANY parent or guardian picking up a scholar earlymust provide proper identification
(valid/current driver's license or State issued ID) and be on the scholar's approved release list.
    3. ANY person that volunteers or chaperones for any reason must have a cleared background check well in advance.  Background checks can take 2-3 weeks to process as this is not conducted on a campus level.  Most volunteers have provided information during online re-enrollment but please check a few weeks ahead of your event date if you're unsure.  Please also check with the appropriate event/trip contact to be sure you have officially signed up for that opportunity.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation with keeping our campus as secure as we can!

  • Car Line Information

Posted by Claudia Shelton at 8/20/2016 6:00:00 AM
Car line drop off and pick up will inevitably be a slow process when almost 1,600 scholars are going to or leaving from the same location. Please prepare by reviewing the attached details and maps!

Three tips to improve car line experiences:
ARRIVE OUTSIDE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC TIMESThe least amount of traffic during morning car line on a normal day is between 7:15-7:25 and 7:50-8:05.  Primary students may arrive as early as 7:15. Secondary students may arrive at 7:15 but will be required to wait outside in the courtyard until the Main Gym is open at 7:45. In the afternoon, traffic for Secondary is much lighter beginning at 4:25 (3:10 on Weds or 1:10 on half days).  Secondary parents, do not arrive early in the afternoon (4:00 on regular days, 2:40 on Wednesdays).  Please arrive at 4:00 at the earliest.
FOLLOW DIRECTIONS OF STAFF & VOLUNTEERSThey have the "big picture" of the most efficient, safe car line process. Keep in mind they are outdoors during very uncomfortable weather conditions and can use your cooperation and smiles!
ABOVE ALL, BE PATIENT. Set a good example for others by promoting a safe and calm response to long wait times.
